Annual exhibition 2016: Dream house
March 19, 2016 – January 15, 2017
The Waldviertel art museum's annual exhibition 2016 "Dream house" presents extraordinary living arrangements and houses of today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow via inspiring images, installations, videos and models. The fascinating exhibition invites visitors and guests to envision and find their personal dream house.
This Journey into the future was realized under the direction of the internationally renowned architect and artist Prof. Makis Warlamis. The main thread through the exhibition is the harmonious combination of nature and architecture which is able to balance body, mind and soul and to offer an essential contribution to a happy life and living.
The range of examples is broad:
- Built Dream houses by Friedensreich Hundertwasser
- Masterpieces of nature by photographer and graphic artist Volkhard Hofer
- Poetic Architectures, Paradise-Houses and Fantastic Visions by Makis Warlamis
- Dream Houses by children
- An oasis of happiness on the island Santorini
- Successful examples from the region
A walk-in room installation, which allows visitors the 'live' experience of a fascinating archetypal architecture using the example of the volcanic island of Santorini, was created as an oasis of happiness.
In this way, visitors can discover different dream houses without having to take long journeys. The exhibition also shows interesting examples from the region as well as inspiring dream houses created by children.
The fantastic visions and fascinating dreamy ideas by Makis Warlamis lead into the distant future and present Plasma houses, Live Towers, Space Towns and moving ideas, integrating technologies for sustainability in the areas of energy, climate, ecology and happiness-in-life. The images are visions which give us an insight into a beautiful and joyous world that astonishes and amazes us.
